Pub Grub
Tonight, Zoe and I had dinner at the White Hart Inn in Havenstreet. It is pretty amazing to eat at a pub that has been in business for over 250 years. The pub, situated on the typical IOW narrow street, is split into a bar side and a dining side. Both sides are small...which I think adds to the character.
I had fried cod with chips and peas and Zoe had a jacket potato. Zoe enjoyed her spud, but I thought both my cod and chips were a little overcooked. However, the service was impecabble. We were cheerily greated at the door and our every need was attended to. The Goddard's on cask was splendid too.
One day, I would love to run a place like this.
Upon our return home, Bob & Wendy had returned from their anniversary dinner. Bob stated that he overate, mostly because he had the spotted dick. I asked if he was okay...then quickly remembered that it was a dessert, not an ailment. Bob said it had spots, but other than that he felt it was dickless. Ahh the English and their humor. I have never been more offended in my life.
