Beer Holidays Galore

Well as if it wasn't exciting enough celebrating IPA Day on August 2nd, today happens to be International Beer Day.  

Is it just me, or did these beer holidays come out of nowhere?  Well, I'm not one to skip a holiday, so I celebrated in form with Morimoto Imperial Pislner from Rogue.  Yes, that Morimoto.

Pilsners are not one of my favorite styles.  However, this Imperial Pilsner is something special.  Perhaps because to me, it is so "un-pilsner" like.  This beer packs a  full mouthfeel and has both a strong malt backbone and a lot of hoppy character.  Although I get a hint of lemon and a certain amount of doughiness, there is no hint of of the 8.8% ABV.  

Not only is this brew stellar, the bottle is too.  Well done, Rogue.  Well done, Chef.

While the weekend worked out great for the beer holidays, grilling was a little tricky.

Nothing like getting things fired up and then having the weather hit.  Nonetheless, dinner must go on!  More to come…in the meantime, there is a beer holiday to celebrate.  Cheers!
