Samuel Adams: Tetravis
I've really enjoyed everything that has rolled out of the Samuel Adams Barrel Room Collection, so I was fairly excited to learn about Tetravis, the latest addition to the Barrel Room lineup.
I had a small taste of Tetravis during my trip to the Samuel Adams Brewery in June, but it was not until a few days ago I was able to properly enjoy a bottle.
Tetravis is the Sam Adams take on the Belgian Quad, which is a fairly strong ale.
Tetravis poured a beautiful mahogany and without a doubt, had the distinctive "funkiness" of KMF on the nose.
KMF, aka Kosmic Mother Funk, is an ale aged in Hungarian oak tons for up to 12 months. I've had it right from the source in the Barrel Room and every bit lives up to its name.
Tetravis had a sour/tart taste, followed by a solid layer of sweet maltiness. The dark fruit almost surpasses the spice and the alcohol is fairly hidden too, which is scary. Tetravis is 10.2% ABV.
I enjoyed every drop of Tetravis. It may be my new Barrel Room Favorite.
Tetarvis is available nationwide starting in September. I don't know about you, but I'll be looking for more.
Note: Samuel Adams provided me with a bottle of Tetravis. The opinions expressed are my own.
