Weber's Mobile Grill Academy
A couple weeks ago, I had the pleasure to spend the day with one of Weber's Mobile Grill Academies. Starting last year,
Weber launched two customized semi trucks which, when parked, transform into grilling classrooms.
The trucks are incredibly amazing and their grill specialists staff, second to none.
Originally focused on retail training, this year the teams have been teaching consumer classes, which, with a partnership with PopChips, brought them to Dayton area Kroger stores a few weeks ago.
Through several classes throughout the day, Weber Grill Specialists walked attendees through the steps to make the perfect burger. While the classes were full, the scent of grilled burgers brought even more curious and hungry onlookers making their way into the grocery store.
While the class attendees ran from non-grillers to serious grillers, the one constant was the smile on everyone's face.
The weather for July was abysmal, but that didn't stop everyone from crafting their best burgers.
By far the most intriguing "student" was an older woman, whose name I sadly missed.
Armed with her cane to aid her across the grill demo area and her bonnet to keep the rain away, she was all about crafting her patty for the grill. As I overheard her confiding in one of her fellow students, " I've done a lot of cooking through the years." This, I don't doubt and the fact she still wants to attend a class and learn more is something I wholeheartedly admire. As I always say, we should never stop learning. She personifies it.
While grabbing some pictures, I also took the time to shoot video. The result is the video posted below.
If the Mobile Academies make their way to your hometown, I highly recommend the experience. The traveling Weber teams bring a whole lot of fun, knowledge, and most importantly, grills, with them!
Note: I was compensated for the above video as part of my ongoing relationship with Weber. The pictures and post are my own.
