Bourbon Pecan Grilled Apples

Bourbon Pecan Grilled Apples

Every September, the Aullwood Audubon Center and Farm holds Apple Fest. As the name suggests, it's a celebration of the apple through demonstrations, activities, and plenty of food. With such a great treasure literally in our backyard, this annual festival is a perennial on my "must visit" list.

While food vendors lined the paths, demonstrations on cider making and Dutch oven apple pies attracted the most attention.

And of course, no matter where you turned, there were plenty of apples.

With apples on my mind, it started me thinking about the grill. I've gone the savory route, but not necessarily the sweet. What better way to celebrate fall and the holidays than a boozy centric mixture of pecans and apples?

The result is my new favorite dessert and this from a guy who doesn't eat a lot of desserts. I couldn't get enough. The heat soothed tartness of the grilled apple with a hit of bourbon, and a sweet crunch of pecan kept me coming back for more. Oh, and an ice cream. Just a bit of ice cream.

For all of the details and the recipe, hop on over to the Weber blog. These will go great at your next family gathering and more importantly, gives you one more reason to keep the grill hot after dinner.
