Wight bound
We made great time to Portsmouth and caught the 1 PM Wightlink ferry. The weather has been crap...but then again, that's the UK. It's still probably warmer than back home.
The cars for the ferry line-up and then drive on. You will see everything from lorries to motorcycles. In the picture, you can see us driving onto the back of the ferry.
Once aboard, we locked up the car and headed to the lounge for the 35 minute trip across the Solent. The ferry was empty because it was off season. We headed up to the lounge where we enjoyed what else? A couple pints of John Smith.
Although the weather was bleak, I took a quick spin around the deck and snapped a photo off the front of the ship. I have been using the phone camera because the batteries in the actual digital camera died last night.
Zoe called her Mum from the ferry who was not expecting us until 6:30. Zoe's Mum's chief concern was that she was still cooking and I would not have anything to eat. A just concern indeed.
About five minutes from dock, we headed back down to the car and strapped in. It is somewhat of a weird thing to be sitting in a car wearing a seatbelt while still sailing on a ship. The boat docked, the gang plank went down and we were off.
Ian & Rita dropped us off and we descended on the Johnson household. We met Paul and Sam and had one of Wendy's home cooked British meals of roast beef and Yorkshire Pudding. Good, good stuff.
Zoe and her Mum just put on CSI: Miami much to my objections. If I don't want to watch that at home, I certainly don't want to here. Oh well, I am out numbered by ovaries and votes.
