Back to see the Dairyman's Daughter

Every trip to IOW has included a visit to the Dairyman's Daughter in Arreton. My last trip to the see the Dairyman's Daughter involved a flashlight and dark clothing. It was nice to return during respectable hours.

The Daughter is situated in the middle of a craft village. It is a big place for tourists and while we there, four tour buses pulled in. The ambiance of the pub is great. The low hung beamed ceilings and stone floor takes you back in time. The selection of real ale was also incredible. With eight beers on cask and a good representation of guest beers. I opted for pints from Ventnor Brewery and Goddards.

We ordered our food and were served in under ten minutes. It was fast. I figured it must be if they are to have such quick turnover with all of the tourists. For all those that know how much Zoe hates ordering "water" when we go out...the shoe was on the other foot today. When I went to the bar to grab another pint, I was also asked to get some "water". I knew I was heading into difficult territory. No sooner than I said "water", the barkeep made his way to the wine rack. "No...no...wwwAAAAtttteerrr". As if my clueless look wasn't enough, he quickly realized I was American. Everyone should experience this once so that they know what Zoe goes through.

Lunch was great. The men had the Beef and Guinness Pie, the ladies a lighter fare. You can be sure that I will pretty much order anything that is made with Guinness and comes with a "jug of gravy".
