Fun with Prawns
Today, we had lunch with Paul & Sam at The Crab & Lobster. The pub, which is in a small village called Bembridge, overlooks the eastern coast of the island. The place was absolutely packed, which was to be expected on such a beautiful day. We tried to get a seat outside, but after walking around like vultures looking for a fresh kill...or emtpy table, we decided to try our luck inside.
After getting a round of drinks...including "Lager Shandy's" for Paul & Sam...it is part lager (Think: Miller Lite) and part fizzy lemonade (Think: Lemonade with bubbles)...we made our way to the table. The Lager Shandy was actually quite good. A sweet, refreshing mix...something I may try and serve up this summer...without telling anyone.
Since the place was packed and the line to order was long, Zoe pulled the short straw and opted to wait in line and place our orders. Zoe commented that the girl taking orders seemed stressed. I can see why.
Even with the huge influx of people, our food arrived fast and hot...although the plate was not as scalding hot as the server made it out to be. Unlike the warning that I was delivered, I was still able to touch my plate and not lose any skin.
Paul and I both had the veal while Sam had the Haddock and Zoe had her favorite prawn sandwich. The vegetables for our meal where almost family sized and produced plenty to go around. Everyone's meals were thoroughly enjoyed....and so were the pints!
