What's on the Grill #9 UK Edition
We...meaning Zoe, Bob, Wendy, Alan and myself...got caught up this afternoon and sort of rushed dinner. Wendy told me that she had a lamb shoulder in the freezer and that she would thaw it out for dinner. Bob and I were pretty excited, but a little perplexed when I found out that Wendy spells lamb a lot like P-O-R-K.
After a few good laughs and some fun ribbing, we fired up the Weber. Unfortunately, because of the size of the boneless shoulder and my late timing, we did not sit down for dinner until almost 9 PM. The lamb pork still turned out fairly well...even though I rushed it quite a bit. It was served with some homemade chili barbecue sauce and a smattering of sides that Wendy threw together. For dessert, Wendy fired up her incredible baking skills and served homemade apple pie and gypsy tart (For those stateside, this was a desert...not a dinner guest), which is a pastry consisting of evaporated milk, brown sugar and treacle. What is amazing, is that Wendy just decided to make those a few hours ago. It was great.
