Refugee town...

At first I thought Ryde had turned into some kind of refugee town. Between people camped out on the esplanade to stories of forty year old women "getting a wash-up" in the bathrooms of Marks & Spencer, I had forgotten that there was some kind of carnival or festival on the island. The headlining group was called the Stone Rollers...or was it Rolling Stones. As my boss (I don't mean Zoe here) can attest, if you want to see the Stones play, head down to your local nursing home and bring some Playskool musical instruments.
The concert wrapped up last night. We could hear the fireworks from Bob & Wendy's. After surveying the seaside, It was pretty easy to tell which goers camped in hotels and which ones just camped. We didn't hear anyone complaining and heard lots of laughing, so from the "man on the street" perspective, the show must have gone well. Over 60,000 people were in attendance.
