Samuel Adams Nitro Stout
Dayton has a lot to offer. For instance, we are known as a beer test market. Sure, I could have said we are known for the Wright Brothers, or the first cash register, but come on, beer test market is pretty cool.
Last month, several local pubs & bars in and around the Dayton area started to serve Samuel Adams Nitro Stout as a test for Boston Beer. Luckily, our local, Boston's, is one of the test pubs.
Nitro Stout is interesting, for as far as I know, it's the first nitrogen offering from Samuel Adams.
Dispensed with a mixture of nitrogen and CO2, nitro beers have a thicker mouthfeel and a creamier head. Think Guinness and Boddingtons from the mass market.
We all enjoyed our pints.
All the way through is a great bite of roasted malt. Nitro Stout is a complex pint and far more exciting than most nitro beers I've had. We filled out our survey cards accordingly.
I have a sneaking suspicion if Nitro Stout is a success, Samuel Adams will utilize their new 16 ounce cans to bring it to market.
Tests are never fun, but when they involve a beer as good as this, I'm all for it. Hopefully it will be coming nationwide in the not too distant future.
